FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q. Am I allowed to clean Twinson with a high-pressure cleaner?
Absolutely no problem. Please consult our Twinson cleaning instructions on this website.
Q. Can Twinson be nailed, sawn or milled?
Most common woodworking techniques can be applied to Twinson materials. nailing however is impossible due to the hardness of the material, please compare with tropical hardwood.
Q. What is the minimum space between two supports beams?
We recommend maximum 50cm between two supports beams. Our profile P 9552 in Twinson has been developed for this application.
Q. Can we bend Twinson profiles?
Not all Twinson profiles can be bent in all directions. Twinson is a very rigid material.
- Twinson profiles P 9553/9558/9580 and P 9581 can be bent but with a limited radius that depends on the direction of the bending.
- For the plinth P 9556, 55cm is the minimum radius of bending without using heating systems. Note that heating systems can affect the brushing aspect.
- P 9555 decking profile cannot be bent.
Q. What is the real colour fading of Twinson profiles?
Due to the wood particles, Twinson profiles will have a color evolution in time, but will never get grey as is the case for wood.
Q. What is the Twinson durability classification?
Class 1. Test method WI 00249596 annex D.
Q. What are the tolerances on profile lengths?
-0 +2mm/lm
Q. What are the differences between P 9544 and P 9554 decking brackets?
- P 9544: stainless steel DIN A2 / AISI 304; for standard applications (garden, inside, etc…)
- P 9554: stainless steel DIN A4 / AISI 316; marine grade, for applications such as (swimming pool, seaside, etc…)
Q. What is the speed of installing Twinson compared to other products? Wood, fiber-cement, etc ?
- Twinson is quicker if you just have to screw the bracket, compared to a wooden plank that you need to drill twice (2 screws) then fix the screws. Estimated gain of 30%
.
Q. How do you finish the decking if it hangs over a pond?
You can use the plinth P 9556. Take into account that P 9552 cannot be used as a structure to support a decking over a pond. It should be built on top of an adapted structure supporting the P 9552 all along.
Q. What kind of glue can be used to fix Twinson?
Illbruck two component Polyurethane resins have been tested by our lab.
- Glue cartridge ref.: 2K PUR P520.
- Glue hand gun ref.: Hand gun for tandem cartridge P 520.
Website: www.illbruck.de
When glue is applied on a non-brushed side of a Twinson profile, we recommend:
1) To rub the surface with sandpaper.
2) To wipe the rubbed surface with a slightly humid sponge.
This will optimize the adhesion of the glue on the profile. If necessary, the same can be done for the support on which the profile will be glued.
Q. How can angles be solved that are less or more than 90°?
Rigidity of Twinson material does not give us the possibility to extrude folding angles. The solution is to combine profiles according to the situation. Like the plinth P 9552, or by cutting from existing profiles.
Q. Decking: What kind of screws should we use with the starter profile?
Very flat headed screw or countersunk screw minimum 3X15mm (size adapted to your support) stainless steel or for external application.
Q. Where are the installation instructions for Twinson?
All instructions are available on the website, but can also be found in:
the box of brackets for O-Terrace profiles
the packing for O-Face profiles
Q. What temperature can the surface get when exposed to the sun?
For similar colors, Twinson decking reaches the same temperature level as wood decking (around 64°).
Q. How can you fix bearer profile to the ground? Do we have special solutions/conditions?
Fixing solutions and installation recommendations are described in the installation sheet for the P 9552. Available on this website.
Q. How can you fix the bottom profile on an existing concrete balcony?
First of all, you need not fix it by means of a screw, please follow the explanation of the P 9552 installation sheet.
Q. Is it possible to install decking without the bottom profiles and fix it for instance with glue?
Theoretically yes, mainly for small balcony for instance (in renovation). But before taking that decision you should take into account the water flow drainage (make it possible), size of the installation and possible constraints. |
